EA Sports’ College Football 25: A Week-Long Focus on Authenticity and Immersive Traditions

EA Sports Reveals the Depth of Immersion in College Football 25, Featuring Sights, Sounds, and Traditions of College Football

The development team behind EA Sports’ College Football 25 has been working tirelessly to bring authenticity and immersion to the game through sights and sounds. In a week-long focus on this topic, they have revealed five key features that showcase their efforts to capture the traditions, unique details, and atmosphere of all 134 Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision schools.

One of the ways EA Sports is bringing authenticity to the game is through pre-game atmospheres with crowd chants and team runouts. For example, Clemson University’s iconic run down The Hill and Notre Dame’s tradition of tapping the “Play Like a Champion Today” sign before taking the field are both accurately represented in the game. To ensure that these traditions are accurately captured, EA Sports went as far as building props and sets to provide accurate motion capture for some of them, using real people and stunt actors for a realistic touch.

In addition to capturing pre-game traditions, EA Sports has also made sure to include turnover traditions found at certain schools such as Pitt’s turnover hoop, Oregon State’s Chainsaw, and Alabama’s Ball Out Belt. These traditions can be seen briefly in the official reveal trailer for College Football 25. Mascots are another integral part of college football culture and will be featured prominently in the game. There will be 50 mascots in total, including 40 costumed mascots like Wake Forest’s Demon Deacon and Ohio State’s Brutus Buckeye, as well as 10 real mascots such as Texas’ Bevo and Georgia’s Uga.

College Football 25 is set to be released on July 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. To learn more about this highly anticipated game, check out our hands-on preview on IGN or follow Taylor on Twitter @TayNixster for updates on Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals being incorporated into the game.
