USWNT secures dominant 4-0 victory over South Korea in Emma Hayes’ debut game

In a thrilling 4-0 victory over South Korea on Saturday, Tierna Davidson and Mallory Swanson both led the USWNT to a commanding lead. Head coach Emma Hayes, in her first match in charge, guided the team to a shutout win in front of 19,010 fans at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Colorado.

Mallory Swanson put the Americans on the board first with a goal scored in the 34th minute after a well-executed buildup of play led by Sophia Smith. This was followed by Tierna Davidson’s goal four minutes later as she headed in a corner kick delivered by Catarina Macario.

Davidson continued his impressive performance in the second half, scoring his second goal of the match off another Swanson corner kick in the 48th minute. Swanson then netted his second goal in the 74th minute after capitalizing on a pass from Rose Lavelle to secure their victory.

Coach Hayes took charge of the team in November and immediately made changes to the roster, bringing in new talent and refreshing the squad. With only 11 players remaining from the 2023 World Cup team, this win marked an important step towards their preparations for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
