Dubai Takes Flight: Ambitious Airport Expansion to Make it the World’s Largest

Everything You Need to Know About the Construction of the World’s Largest Airport in Dubai

Dubai is currently undergoing an ambitious expansion project at Al Maktoum International Airport, with the goal of making it the world’s largest airport. The expansion is part of a larger strategy to shift all operations from Dubai International Airport to Al Maktoum International Airport in the coming years. The project, costing AED 128 billion, will include the construction of new passenger terminals and the implementation of advanced aviation technologies.

The first phase of the project is already underway and is expected to be completed within 10 years. Once completed, Al Maktoum International Airport will have the capacity to accommodate up to 260 million passengers annually, five times larger than the current Dubai International Airport. It will feature 400 aircraft gates and five parallel runways to ensure smooth operations.

The ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammad, emphasized that this expansion is not just about creating a bigger airport but also about building a new city around Dubai South. This new city will house leading companies in the logistics and air transport sectors, further enhancing Dubai’s position as a global hub for trade and commerce. He highlighted that this project is for future generations and ensures continuous and stable development for their children and grandchildren.

Dubai aims to become the world’s airport, port, urban hub, and new global center. With this expansion, it plans to take its place among the top cities in the world in terms of connectivity and transportation infrastructure. The project is set to bring significant economic benefits to the emirate and create new job opportunities in various sectors.
