Dual Sport Star Maurice Redhorn Joins MSU-Northern Basketball and Rodeo Teams

MSU-Northern recruits Browning’s Redhorn III for dual-sport commitment

Maurice Redhorn III, a skilled basketball player and team roper from Browning, has recently announced that he will be competing in both sports at MSU-Northern. The school, part of the Frontier Conference, made the announcement on Tuesday. In the rodeo arena, Redhorn has been a state high school rodeo qualifier for the past two years, while on the basketball court, he has earned the title of co-Most Valuable Player for Northwest A twice.

MSU-Northern basketball coach Shawn Huse expressed his excitement about having Maurice on the team in a statement released by the school. He praised Maurice for his great attitude, responsibility, maturity, toughness, and strong work ethic. According to Huse, MSU-Northern is a perfect fit for Maurice considering his diverse interests in both basketball and rodeo.

Redhorn also shared his thoughts on choosing MSU-Northern. He stated that it has always been a dream for him to play collegiate sports, particularly in the basketball program. He was drawn to the school because of its supportive coaches who were understanding of his desire to pursue both sports he loves. Throughout his college search process, MSU-Northern stood out to him as a top choice due to its welcoming environment and commitment to supporting student athletes’ interests beyond just one sport.

Standing at 6-foot-1, Redhorn played a key role in leading Browning to the State A tournament in March where he averaged 19.2 points and 4.9 rebounds during regular season play following earlier impressive performances with 16.6 points and 5 rebounds as a junior and 11.3 points and 4
