Drew University and Stevens Institute of Technology Partner to Offer 4+1 Dual Degree Program in Software Engineering

Drew University and Stevens Institute of Technology introduce new joint dual degree program

Drew University has recently collaborated with Stevens Institute of Technology to offer a 4+1 dual degree program in software engineering. This program, set to begin in the fall semester, will be added to a list of 17 other dual degrees with esteemed institutions such as Columbia University, Duke University, New York University, and Washington University in St. Louis. These programs are housed within Drew’s Caspersen School of Graduate Studies and Theological School.

Upon completion of the Bachelor of Science in computer science or cybersecurity at Drew University, students will have the chance to earn a Master of Science in software engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology in just one year. This entails spending four years at Drew’s campus and one year at Stevens’ campus in Hoboken. To support students in this program, Stevens Institute of Technology will offer a fellowship of $10,000 to each qualifying Drew student enrolled in the dual degree track.

According to Professor Steve Kass, this updated partnership offers a valuable option for Drew’s computer science and cybersecurity majors interested in furthering their studies in software engineering at the graduate level. The dual degree program is designed to help students develop a solid foundation in software creation by engaging in the various stages of software development, including design, testing, and maintenance. This unique opportunity will enable Drew University students to advance their skills and knowledge
