DB World backs the “New Generation” initiative for urban development in Egypt

DP World Group recently hosted a tour for the youth and pioneers of the “New Generation” initiative under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The group, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, organized a field trip for the young people to visit the first and second basins of the port. During the tour, they learned about the operations within the docks, the movement of imports and exports, and the trading volume at the port.

The commercial team at DP World showcased key businesses, trading volumes, and the movement of exports and imports at Sokhna Port. With annual container handling rates exceeding 900 thousand equivalent containers, they highlighted DP World’s advanced equipment and quay cranes owned by them to streamline loading and unloading operations.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World’s Board of Directors and CEO of its Group, shared a video message with young people expressing his gratitude to President El-Sisi for supporting New Generation Initiative. He emphasized DP World’s commitment to investing in young people through training and work experiences to support global trade routes and supply chains. The group has invested significantly in expanding Sokhna Port to meet growing trade demands in Egypt.

DP World has announced its support for New Generation Initiative by offering university scholarships to top 10 students from urban areas. Through various initiatives such as GROW program for new graduates, DP World aims to develop young talent in logistics sector providing job opportunities in Egypt’s logistical sector while reinforcing their dedication towards economic growth through facilitating international trade.

Overall, it is evident that DP World’s partnership with Egyptian government investment into expanding services at Sokhna Port demonstrate their commitment towards supporting economic growth through facilitating international trade while empowering future leaders through scholarships and training opportunities in industrial logistical sectors.
