DB World and Saudi Ports collaborate to create a logistics zone in Jeddah worth 918 million dirhams.

In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Dubai Ports World Group (DP World) and the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) have announced a new project to build a logistics park affiliated with DP World in Jeddah Islamic Port. The project, worth up to 918 million dirhams ($250 million), is set to revolutionize trade flow capabilities in the region. This new facility will be the largest integrated logistics zone in the Kingdom, covering an area of up to 415 thousand square meters with large yards designated for multi-purpose warehouses and storage platforms.

The cooperation between DP World and Mawani includes management of the Southern Container Terminal under a separate 30-year concession contract. The terminal is currently undergoing a comprehensive modernization project scheduled for completion in the last quarter of 2024, increasing container handling capacity. The total investment in DP World’s projects in Saudi Arabia exceeds approximately 3.67 billion dirhams ($1 billion).

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World Group, emphasized the importance of this investment in Saudi Arabia during a launch ceremony attended by representatives from the Saudi government and DP World Group leadership team. The logistics park aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 and aims to support ambitious goals of the Kingdom. Mohammed Al Sheikh, General Manager of DP World Saudi Arabia, provided details of the project during the ceremony.

Overall, this logistics park represents a significant development for DP World’s projects in Jeddah Islamic Port, enhancing logistics operations for importers and exporters. The facility offers a range of services including temperature-controlled storage warehouses, customs services, and transportation links. This achievement reflects DP World’s commitment to strengthening supply chains in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
