Double Win for Arlington Public School Students at International Science and Engineering Fair: Olivia Bartrum and Anna Mohanty Receive Awards in Multiple Categories

Arlington students achieve top honors at international science fair

At the 2024 International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles, two Arlington Public Schools students received awards for their projects. Olivia Bartrum, a senior at Wakefield High School, took home second place in the Cellular and Molecular Biology category with her project “Harnessing the Signalosome to Enhance Ex-Vivo Generation of Tumor Antigen-Specific T Cells”. Meanwhile, Anna Mohanty, a junior at Washington-Liberty High School, earned third place in both the Translational Medical Science category with her project “Alcott: A Convolutional Neural Network to Predict Multimeric Interactions in HIV-1 Neural Infection” as well as a separate competition sponsored by the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence.

Their accomplishments are a testament to their dedication to science and research, as well as the quality of education they receive at Arlington Public Schools. Both students demonstrated their talents and hard work through their innovative projects at this prestigious fair.
