Double Shooting at Drug-Filled Building in Pontiac: Suspect Arrested and Charges Pending

Insights into shooting inside drug-filled business in Oakland County

In the 700 block of West Huron Street in Pontiac, two individuals were shot at a building filled with drugs over the weekend. Oakland County deputies were first informed of the shooting at 10:52 p.m. on Friday, May 31.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement observed multiple bullet holes in the front facade of the business and spent shell casings in the street. Several cars in the parking lot had also been damaged by gunfire. As officers entered the building, they discovered a loaded assault rifle-style magazine and multiple shell casings.

Inside, they encountered a 23-year-old man from Pontiac holding an AR-style rifle with a minor gunshot wound in his back. Another 23-year-old man from Pontiac was found in a back room with a more serious back injury and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The investigation revealed that the business was likely being used as an after-hours meeting spot for drug deals, as police uncovered a significant quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia scattered throughout the premises. A 28-year-old man from Pontiac was identified as a suspect and arrested without any issues. He is currently in custody at the Oakland County Jail with charges pending.

Authorities also found a drug scale, baggies, and additional marijuana in the suspect’s car. The case remains under investigation by law enforcement, and further updates will be provided as necessary.
