Dornoch emerges victorious at the Belmont Stakes in Saratoga

The Belmont Stakes, one of the most prestigious horse races in the United States, took place at Saratoga Race Course this year. Despite the move from its traditional location at Belmont Park and a change in distance to 1 1/4 miles, Dornoch emerged victorious as a longshot. Ridden by jockey Luis Saez, Dornoch marked his second Belmont victory and trainer Danny Gargan’s first Triple Crown race win.

The 156th running of the Belmont Stakes had a unique twist as it moved from its traditional location to Saratoga Springs due to renovations. Although the distance was shorter than usual, Dornoch was able to secure the win and maintain the streak of different horses winning each of the Triple Crown races for the sixth consecutive year.

Before the race, Mystik Dan and Seize the Grey were considered potential contenders for victory. However, it was Dornoch who surged past both horses in the final stretch to claim the win. This was particularly satisfying for Dornoch and his team after a disappointing 10th place finish in the Kentucky Derby.
