Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts Discusses Importance of Prostate Cancer Awareness with Michael Milken and PCF

MLB and Prostate Cancer Foundation Collaborate to Increase Awareness with Home Run Challenge

Michael Milken, the founder and chairman of the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF), recently had a conversation with Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts before a game against the Reds in Cincinnati. In this chat, Milken emphasized the importance of raising awareness about prostate cancer, which affects 1 in 8 men in their lifetime. This is equivalent to one player on a baseball field. In 2024, nearly 300,000 U.S. men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. While most cases are treatable early on, prostate cancer is still a deadly disease that affects many fathers, coaches, brothers, and husbands.

To help combat this issue, the PCF has partnered with Major League Baseball (MLB) for 29 years through the Home Run Challenge initiative. From now until Father’s Day (June 16), the PCF Team will travel to ballparks around the country to meet fans and players alike. The challenge aims to raise awareness and funds for lifesaving prostate cancer research.

Over the years, the Home Run Challenge has had a significant impact on both raising funds and spreading awareness about prostate cancer. With MLB’s commitment to the challenge, it has raised more than $70 million for breakthroughs in prostate cancer research. PCF supporters have attended over 500 games in every ballpark in North America, witnessed some of the greatest moments in baseball history, been joined by over 40 Hall of Famers, and participated in more than 1,000 broadcasts.

If you want to get involved in this important cause, you can track your favorite team’s home runs through MLB’s website or make a donation directly to PCF. You can also take part in their baseball trivia challenges or enter to win signed baseball memorabilia by joining their social media campaigns or signing up for their email list.
