Disney’s Top Technology Officer Leaves for New Role as Chief Technology Officer at Penn Entertainment

Top Disney executive overseeing technology and streaming services to depart company

Disney’s top technology officer Aaron LaBerge is leaving the company in June for personal reasons, according to an internal memo shared by CNBC. LaBerge will be taking up his next role as the chief technology officer at Penn Entertainment, a gambling company that operates ESPN Bet, a sports wagering service launched by Disney. In this new position, he will oversee a multinational team of technologists and will be the key business leader for Penn’s interactive division.

During his more than two-decade tenure at Disney, LaBerge played a significant role in bringing together Disney and Hulu after Disney acquired Comcast’s stake in the streaming service for over $8 billion last year. He was also instrumental in integrating advertising into Disney’s streaming offerings, as reported by CNBC. The departure of LaBerge marks the end of an era at Disney and opens a new chapter for him at Penn Entertainment, where he will continue to utilize his expertise in technology and business leadership.
