Disney+ Scam: Beware of Phishing Attempts and Protect Your Personal Information

Another Scam: Disney+ Does Not Offer Free 90-Day Subscription Renewal With Bank Details

Scammers have been targeting unsuspecting citizens with a fake subscription offer to the Disney+ platform. Thousands of consumers have received emails that appear to be from Disney+, requesting their banking information under the guise of a free 90-day extension to their subscription. The emails contain a link with the Disney+ logo, prompting users to enter their credit card details to validate the offer.

The Spanish Consumer Association has received over one hundred complaints related to this scam, with consumers reporting small amounts of money being deducted from their accounts after entering their banking information. The association’s president, Miguel A. Ruiz, has labeled it as a “massive” fraud and warns consumers to be cautious of similar phishing attempts.

This is not the first time scammers have tried to impersonate the Disney+ platform to defraud individuals. Last year, a similar scam was reported with less scope, but this latest attempt has reached people who do not even have a Disney+ subscription. The association has not detected any victims so far, as consumers have not fallen for the trap.

Phishing scams like this are common and scammers often pose as legitimate companies to steal passwords and personal data. Consumers are advised to be cautious of any requests for banking information via SMS or email and to contact their association or bank if they suspect any fraudulent activity. Ultimately, staying vigilant and verifying the authenticity of any requests for personal information is key to avoiding falling victim to these scams.
