On July 1, WHYY’s secondary station, WHYY-TV 12.2, will start broadcasting WORLD Channel from 5 PM until 5 AM every day. This new programming can be viewed on various platforms such as over the air on WHYY-TV 12.2, Comcast channel 257, Verizon Fios channel 474 or by streaming 24/7 on whyy.org/tv.
WORLD Channel is a unique platform that aims to inform and inspire viewers with real stories from around the world, breaking through barriers, stereotypes and outmoded expectations about each other and life around us. The channel features four original series: America ReFramed which showcases domestic documentaries; Doc World which highlights international documentaries; Local, USA which focuses on short-form content on local issues of national importance; and Stories from the Stage which is a multi-platform storytelling series. In addition to these original series, WORLD Channel also features films and programs from filmmakers, public media stations and partners that celebrate diverse cultures and address critical issues like education, healthcare, the environment and politics.
