Discover the Joy of Science: UW-Madison Hosts Annual Science Expeditions Event

The UW-Madison Science Expeditions event was held over three days, allowing students and families to engage with science in various ways. Val Blair, a senior outreach coordinator at the Morgridge Institute for Research, highlighted the importance of the event in showcasing the science research conducted at UW-Madison. She mentioned how numerous scientists were eager to share hands-on science experiences with the public, fostering engagement and learning.

The community open house event was held in different buildings on campus, offering interactive science and art activities for participants of all ages. The Discovery Building on campus was one of the locations where student organizations, graduate students, and research labs provided free activities for attendees. Community groups like the Henry Vilas Zoo and the Wisconsin Science Museum also participated in the event, enhancing the overall experience for visitors.

In its 20th year of existence, this spring event has become a tradition at UW-Madison. As part of their 175th celebration, there were additional features and activities for attendees to explore. The event aimed to blend fun and learning, creating an environment where families could come together to enjoy science and discovery.

Blair noted how rewarding it was to witness children as they engaged in scientific activities and explored the campus with their families. The event was free and open to the public, with shuttle transportation available for convenience. For more information on the schedule and locations, individuals were directed to visit the event’s website or download WMTV15 News app.

Overall, this Science Expeditions event is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in science to learn more about ongoing research at UW-Madison while having fun engaging in hands-on activities with others.
