Direct Sea Box: Be Wary of Online Shipping Container Sales Company that Disappears After Sale

BBB cautions consumers about Direct Sea Box, fraudulent Springfield company

A warning from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to consumers: be cautious when doing business with Direct Sea Box, an online shipping container sales company that claims to be located at Springfield Underground. BBB reports that a California man lost nearly $4,000 in a transaction with Direct Sea Box and there have been similar incidents reported this year, with losses ranging in the thousands of dollars.

Pamela Hernandez, BBB’s regional director for Springfield advises customers looking for storage containers to do their research before making any purchases. Direct Sea Box lists its address as 3551 E. Turner St., Springfield – the location of Springfield Underground warehouse. However, security at Springfield Underground confirms that no such business exists on their premises.

One customer from Grass Valley, California filed a complaint with BBB after paying $3,879 for a 20-foot modified shipping container from Direct Sea Box in April 2024. The container never arrived and the customer was unable to reach anyone from Direct Sea Box post-sale. Web registration documents show that the Direct Sea Box website was only registered on April 13th, 2024. Despite attempts by BBB investigators to contact Direct Sea Box, their number listed on their website was disconnected.

These recent incidents highlight the importance of being cautious when conducting transactions online and thoroughly researching businesses before making any purchases. Scam alert tools and consumer protection resources are available to assist individuals who suspect they may have fallen victim to fraudulent schemes.
