Detroit’s Community Celebrates Culture and Health through Public Health Week

Detroit to Launch Public Health Week on April 1

The Detroit Health Department has partnered with various organizations for the second year in a row to host Public Health Week, with this year’s theme being “Centering and Celebrating Culture in Health.” The event aims to highlight the critical services that public health provides to residents of the city.

During the week, various health screenings and activities will be available to the public, including blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, and kidney function checks, HIV and syphilis testing, fitness classes, CPR training, Narcan training and kit distribution, mental health makeovers, lead screenings, cuts and conversations, and a men’s panel discussion.

Screening sessions will take place at different locations throughout the week at the Detroit Health Department, Detroit Police Precincts, and City of Detroit Recreation Centers. The specific dates and times can be found on www.detroitmi.gov/health.
