Detroit is hosting a week-long event in honor of Public Health Week, offering free health screenings to residents. The Detroit Health Department has teamed up with various community partners to provide screenings and classes at different locations throughout the city.
The event features a wide range of offerings, including screenings for blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, kidney function, HIV, and syphilis. Attendees can also participate in fitness classes, CPR training, Narcan training, mental health makeovers and massages, lead screenings, and a men’s panel discussion called Cuts and Conversations.
On Wednesday, there will be a senior health and wellness event at St. Pat’s Senior Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by an iDecide Teen Open House at the Detroit Health Department from 5-7:30 p.m., on Thursday there will be a health and wellness event at Patton Recreation Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., On Friday there will be Justice Walk held at 2875 W. Grand Blvd., Saturday events include Cuts and Conversations at Heilmann Recreation Center and Ford Resource Center from noon to 2 p.m., as well as Mental Health Makeover and Massages from noon to 2 p.m., Dads and Sons Basketball Challenge from 2:30-5 p.m., all located at 15491 Maddelein St
