Destiny in Action: Seattle Mariners Outfield Prospect Ryan Bliss Makes MLB Debut Ten Years After Tweeting About His Dream

After sharing his dream of playing for the Mariners at age 14, Ryan Bliss has made it to the big leagues

Ryan Bliss made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut with the Seattle Mariners on Monday night, a moment that felt like destiny unfolding. This happened ten years after he tweeted about his dream of playing in the MLB at the age of 14.

The Mariners shared the moment on social media platform X, saying “10 years later, ‘one day’ has come,” with an image of Bliss walking onto the field in everyday clothing. Bliss quote-tweeted the post, expressing that dreams do come true.

Bliss is ranked as the No. 11 prospect in the Mariners’ farm system. Despite being listed at just 5-foot-7, he had an impressive batting record last year with 23 home runs and 86 RBIs between Double-A and Triple-A ball. This season, Bliss leads Triple-A with 28 steals, after swiping 55 bags last year and 31 the season before.

Bliss’s journey in the minor leagues did not start with a Seattle affiliate. He was initially drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second round of the 2021 draft and later traded to Seattle for Paul Sewald. Now, Bliss has made his major league debut with the Mariners, fulfilling a prophecy he made a decade ago.
