Defensive Line Boost: Ohio State’s Recruitment Efforts Receive a Significant Push with Jarquez Carter’s Top Six Schools

Florida defensive lineman named one of Ohio State’s top six recruits for 2025

Ohio State football has received a significant boost in their recruitment efforts as Jarquez Carter, a highly-touted defensive line target, announced his top six schools on Wednesday. Among the top schools on Carter’s list are Ohio State, Florida, Penn State, UCF, Miami, and Florida State.

Carter is a four-star recruit and the 33rd ranked defensive lineman in the 2025 class according to On3 Industry rankings. He stands at 6 feet 2 inches and weighs 270 pounds. The talented prospect hails from Newberry High School in Florida and has shown interest in Ohio State throughout the recruiting process. Carter even attended the Buckeyes’ November game against Minnesota and made an official visit to Columbus in late March.

Ohio State has already secured commitments from two edge rushers in the 2025 class, including Zahir Mathis and London Merritt. However, they are still looking to land a commitment from an interior defensive lineman like Carter. If successful, Carter’s talent and skill would be a valuable addition to their roster for the upcoming seasons.
