Illinois man breaks world record by completing 26,100 squats in 24 hours

Recently, Tony Piraino from Decatur, Illinois made headlines for breaking the Guinness World Record for the most squats done in 24 hours. The previous record of 25,000 squats was set by Joe Reverdes of Rhode Island in 2020. However, Piraino surpassed this total by completing 26,100 squats during his grueling challenge which took place from 5 a.m. on a Thursday to 5 a.m. the following day.

In order to officially hold the record, Piraino’s attempt must be reviewed by the officials at Guinness World Records for certification. Despite the exhausting nature of the challenge, Piraino’s dedication paid off and he served as an inspiration to others to push their limits and make a positive difference in the community. The record-breaking attempt also helped raise money for the Marion County Horizon Center of Decatur and Mount Zion, an organization that provides vital services such as housing, employment opportunities, and other resources for adults with developmental disabilities.
