A man in his 50s was rushed to the hospital after consuming cooked dead pork. The incident occurred in Lao Cai, and he was admitted to Van Ban District General Hospital with severe symptoms of vomiting and difficulty breathing. He was later diagnosed with septic shock, food poisoning, and multiple organ failure caused by bacterial toxins.

The man’s condition worsened, and he was transferred to Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital for further treatment. Despite three days of intensive care, including a ventilator and dialysis, his prognosis remained dire with a high risk of death.

Doctor Truong Ngoc Dung from the Department of Intensive Care – Poison Control advised the public against buying or consuming sick or dead pigs or unhygienic pig products. It is crucial to avoid eating pork with unusual qualities or from animals that have died from unknown causes to prevent potential life-threatening risks.

Practicing good personal hygiene when handling pigs or preparing pork is essential. If symptoms arise, it is critical to seek medical attention promptly for proper examination and treatment.
