Daviess County Public Schools Receive $20,000 in Grants to Enhance Technology Education

DCPS awarded nearly $20k in grants for technology program improvement

The Kentucky Society for Technology in Education has awarded grants totaling nearly $20,000 to Daviess County Public Schools to support technology projects at the district. The grants will help fund two distinct initiatives: a hands-on IT training program and a podcast studio.

The first grant, worth $9,655, will be used to establish the Apollo High School and Daviess County High School Student IT Support Pathway. This program aims to provide students with practical experience in technology repair and maintenance, giving them valuable skills that they can apply in their future careers. Assistant Principal Chad Alward of DCHS stated that the program would eliminate barriers to training students by offering real-world technology applications within the school environment. Mason Head, Assistant Principal of AHS, added that the grant would enable them to expand the program’s reach and effectiveness by enhancing resources and tools needed for its success.

The second grant of $10,000 will help DCHS set up a cutting-edge podcast studio where students can develop their communication skills and explore multimedia storytelling. The studio will be equipped with advanced technology and professional-grade equipment, allowing students flexibility in producing audio or video content on various subjects. Superintendent Matt Robbins emphasized the importance of these grants in enriching students’ learning experiences and preparing them for future career opportunities. He expressed excitement about the positive impact that these programs would have on both students and the community as a whole.
