Databarracks Acquires PlanB Consulting: Strengthening Operational Resilience and Cyber Continuity Offerings

Databarracks partners with PlanB to enhance business continuity efforts – Blocks and Files

In a strategic move to enhance their Operational Resilience and Cyber Continuity consulting practice, Databarracks, a UK continuity services firm, has acquired PlanB Consulting, based in Scotland. The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. PlanB Consulting specializes in business continuity, crisis management, resilience, and cyber incident response services. They are known for their ISO 22301 certification consultancy and as a UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) Assured Exercise Provider for cyber incident drills.

Mike Osborne, the non-exec chairman of Databarracks, highlighted PlanB Consulting’s expertise in the field of business continuity. He mentioned that the landscape of the industry has changed significantly over the years, with many traditional players being absorbed by generalist IT service providers. Osborne also noted that the operational resilience market in the UK has become fragmented, with few specialists focusing on end-to-end resilience services.

PlanB Consulting expressed their excitement about joining Databarracks. Kim Maclean-Bristol, co-founder and director of PlanB, emphasized the shared values and vision for improving organizational resilience. Databarracks has a history of providing innovative solutions in the field of data backup services. In 2003, they launched one of the world’s first managed data backup services from an underground former UK military bunker. Last year, Databarracks introduced Jump-Start, a cloud-based recovery landing zone that promises a quick and secure recovery process using infrastructure as code (IaC).

The acquisition represents a strategic move by both companies to provide comprehensive solutions for businesses looking to improve their resilience in the face of cyber threats and crises. With PlanB Consulting’s expertise in business continuity and crisis management and Databarrack’s focus on data backup services and operational resilience solutions
