Damian Priest: From Security Guard to WWE World Champion in Six Years

Damian Priest Wins WWE World Heavyweight Championship; Drew McIntyre Achieves Historic Milestone

Damian Priest had a significant moment at WrestleMania 40, although not the one he had expected. The night two of the event began with a match between Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Both wrestlers gave their all, but ultimately it was McIntyre who emerged victorious after delivering several Claymore Kicks to Rollins. However, his celebration was short-lived as CM Punk appeared and ambushed McIntyre with his biometric cast.

Priest had been in possession of the Money in the Bank briefcase for 282 days before finally deciding to cash it in at WrestleMania 40. Many fans had criticized him for not doing so earlier, especially given Seth Rollins’ previous injury issues. Priest was joined by his stablemates Rhea Ripley, Finn Balor, and Dominik Mysterio to celebrate his victory as CM Punk watched on.

The new World Champion, Damian Priest, is from New York but originally hails from Dorado, Puerto Rico. He made his WWE debut in 2018, but interestingly, his on-screen debut actually dates back to 2014 at WWE’s Money in the Bank PPV where he appeared as a security guard alongside Stephanie McMahon.
