Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager, Jerry Jones, boasts about being first in everything, but some critics argue that his personnel decisions don’t always reflect this desire for the top spot. Despite his achievements in the NFL, Jones often falls short of securing the top spot.
Recently, Forbes magazine released its list of the richest people in the world, with Jones being outperformed by Stanley Kroenke in the sports category. Kroenke’s sports empire includes ownership of Arsenal F.C., the Los Angeles Rams, the Denver Nuggets, and the Colorado Avalanche, among others. In comparison, Jones’ sports portfolio is primarily focused on the Dallas Cowboys. Kroenke holds the top spot as the richest sports figure at No. 115 overall with a net worth of $16.2 billion while Jones follows closely behind at No. 137 with $13.3 billion.
Jones has other NFL team owners also make it to the list such as Robert Kraft of the New England Patriots and Arthur Smith of Atlanta Falcons but despite Cowboys franchise success their lack of playoff victories since 1995 has contributed to their stagnant ranking.
While Cowboys value remains high another Super Bowl win could significantly impact their financial worth as they hope a return to top of NFL could establish them as undisputed leaders in both sports and financial success.
