In May, Palomar Health Medical Group experienced a cyberattack that compromised sensitive patient information including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, medical history, and prescription information. The unauthorized access occurred from April 23 to May 5, leading to potential data copy and loss of certain files as stated by the InnoVision Marketing Group.
The attack has caused significant disruption to Palomar’s day-to-day operations, with phone lines and computer systems remaining disrupted. Patients like Patricia Ryan were unaware of the compromised information until Team 10 notified them. The list of potentially compromised information also includes disability and diagnostic information, health insurance details, emails, credit and debit card numbers, PINs, and passwords.
In response to the cyberattack, Palomar stated its commitment to confidentiality, privacy, and security of patient information. The organization initiated an investigation, notified law enforcement, and took measures to secure its network environment.
