Cristiano Ronaldo: Back for his 11th major international tournament at Euro 2024

Ronaldo selected for Portugal squad in Euro 2024

Cristiano Ronaldo has once again been selected for the Portugal squad at Euro 2024, where he is set to participate in his 11th major international tournament. The 39-year-old forward from Al-Nassr holds the record for the most capped player in international football with 206 appearances for Portugal and 128 goals.

Portugal’s head coach, Roberto Martinez, has included Ronaldo in his 26-man squad due to his exceptional quality in front of goal and importance to the team. Ronaldo’s debut at Euro 2004 saw Portugal reach the final but lose to Greece. He played a pivotal role in Portugal’s victory at Euro 16 and their triumph in the Nations League in 2018-19.

The Portugal squad for Euro 2024 includes nine players from Premier League clubs, including Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva from Manchester United and Manchester City respectively. Pepe, age 41, and young talent Francisco Conceicao have also been included in the squad.

Portugal kicks off their Euro 2024 campaign against Czech Republic on June 18, followed by matches against Turkey and Georgia. With an experienced core of players like Ronaldo and promising prospects like Conceicao, Portugal will be looking to make a significant impact on the tournament.
