The Long Island stadium, which will host eight games during the 2019 Cricket World Cup, is set to be a major milestone in bringing the sport to a wider audience in the US. Constructed at Eisenhower Park by local Long Islanders, the stadium has a capacity of 34,000 fans and was designed specifically for this event.

John Sulinski and his company Landtek were responsible for installing the field and main pitch where the matches will take place. Local native Don Lockerbie, who is part of the organizing committee for the tournament, expressed his excitement about having cricket come to Nassau. “It’s sensational,” he said. “Having a Cricket World Cup in the United States is just amazing for the sport.”

The tournament kicks off on June 3rd and promises to showcase some of the best cricket players from around the world. While the stadium itself will be dismantled after the event, Lockerbie believes that having such an event in Nassau will help bring more attention to cricket as a whole in America.
