After winning the T20 World Cup and defeating South Africa in the final, the Indian cricket team is finally headed back to Delhi. The team had been stranded on Barbados for three days due to a hurricane.

The special Air India charter flight, designated AIC24WC, departed from the Grantley Adams International Airport and is expected to land in Delhi on Thursday morning. Captain Rohit Sharma shared a photo on Instagram with the trophy inside the aircraft, captioned “Coming home.”

The Boeing 777 that brought the team to Barbados originated from New Jersey, USA, and landed in Barbados in the early hours of the morning. The airport staff noted that it was the largest aircraft they had seen land at the airport since it reopened after the hurricane.

However, initially, their departure was delayed due to issues with the plane’s arrival time. But now they are on their way back to India. Upon arrival, they will be honored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a road-show is being planned in Mumbai to celebrate their victory. Meanwhile, Hurricane Beryl is moving towards Jamaica.
