Cricket Champions Celebrate $15 Million Bonus and Highest Cash Prizes in T20 World Cup History

The Indian cricket team, led by Captain Virat Kohli, has won the T20 World Cup. The BCCI announced that the squad will receive a bonus of INR 125 crore (USD 15 million) following their victory over South Africa in the final. Board Secretary Jay Shah praised the team for their exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) also announced cash prizes for the winners of the World Cup. In addition to the BCCI’s bonus, India will receive USD 2.45 million from ICC as a cash prize for their victory. They will also receive an additional $31,154 for each match won by every team except in semi-finals and finals. This is the highest cash prize ever offered in men’s T20 World Cup history and represents a significant increase from previous years.

Overall, all teams participating in the tournament will receive more prize and participation money than in previous years. The total prize money for the tournament has more than doubled from USD 5.6 million in 2022 to USD 11.25 million this year. This means an increase in awards for all 20 participating teams across the board.

As runners-up, South Africa will receive USD 1.28 million, which is an increase from their prize money awarded in 2022. Losing semi-finalists Afghanistan and England will each receive USD 787,500, also a significant increase from previous years.

The increase in prize money for all teams reflects a commitment to recognizing and rewarding players and teams who perform well in this prestigious tournament.

In conclusion, India’s victory over South Africa in the T20 World Cup was not only historical but also financially rewarding for them as well as other participating teams. The total prize money of this year’s tournament more than doubled compared to previous years with notable increases for runners-up and losing semi-finalists.
