Crewe Alexandra Announces Squad Decisions and Managerial Changes Following Playoff Heartbreak

Crewe retain five players and extend new deals to five others

Crewe Alexandra has announced their squad decisions following their close call in the League Two promotion play-offs. The club has released five players, including Welsh defender Billy Sass-Davies, Zak Kempster-Down, Charlie Colkett, Charlie Kirk, and Max Woodcock. However, five players have been offered new deals by the club, including Rio Adebisi, Luke Offord, Chris Long, Courtney Baker-Richardson, and top scorer Elliott Nevitt.

In addition to the player movements, Crewe has extended 20-year-old defender Zac Williams’ contract and returned six on-loan players to their parent clubs. The club has also offered professional contracts to two of their Academy scholars, Nathan Robinson and Lucas Sant. Lee Bell will enter his second full season as manager for the 2024-25 season after taking over from Alex Morris in November 2022. Despite a strong finish to the season where they won two of their last 12 games and reached the promotion playoff final, Crewe fell short of reaching the Championship as they lost to Crawley 2-0 at Wembley last Sunday.
