Creating a Supportive Environment: Santa Barbara PATH Tackles Mental Health Challenges among Unhoused Individuals.

Santa Barbara PATH increases access to mental health support for homeless population

During Mental Health Awareness month, Santa Barbara PATH is taking steps to address the mental health challenges faced by many unhoused individuals in the area. The organization is working to create a more trauma-informed environment at its site and offer a range of mental health and wellness programs onsite.

To support those in need, SB PATH has introduced several new programs. These include AA meetings, journaling classes, haircuts, yoga classes, and painting the walls in calming colors. Additionally, the organization is reaching out to the community for support in building a wellness room onsite.

SB PATH is an interim housing program that serves homeless men and women in Santa Barbara. Through partnerships with organizations such as Cottage Health, County Behavioral Wellness, Santa Barbara Police Department, County Probation, County Adult Protective Services, and City of Goleta, the program provides access to 100 beds year-round. With these partnerships and programs in place, SB PATH aims to create a supportive and healing environment for those experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges.
