Cornish Pirates Say Goodbye to Scrum-Half Ruaridh Dawson, Welcome Exeter Hooker Harry Hocking for 2021-2022 Season

Cornish Pirates’ Scrum-half Dawson set to depart

In 2019, Ruaridh Dawson joined Cornish Pirates and has since made 65 appearances for the club in two separate stints. However, the scrum-half will be leaving at the end of the season, following the announcement of Alex Schwarz’s departure earlier in the week.

In light of Dawson’s exit, Exeter hooker Harry Hocking has agreed to join the club permanently next season after being on dual-registration this year. Additionally, fly-halves Bruce Houston and Joe Elderkin, as well as forward Alex Everett, have also secured deals for the upcoming season.

Joint-head coach Gavin Cattle expressed his admiration for Dawson, praising his athletic abilities, service, and kicking game. He described Dawson as a player who embodies the Pirates ethos and will be missed by the team.

Several other player announcements have been made this week, including captain John Stevens and winger Robin Wedlake agreeing to new deals. As the club looks toward the future, they are focused on building a strong team for the next season.
