Coordinated Efforts in Emergency Situations: The HGSS Response to a Plane Crash in Croatia

The HGSS team from Samobor arrived at the scene at 5:18 pm. Upon arrival, they found that police, DVD Stupnik firefighters, and emergency workers were already present at the location. The aircraft had crashed in the forest near Stupni’ki Obrezcaron, Micani Street.

Pavelić Damir, an HGSS student, was among the first to arrive at the crash site. He described the challenging terrain of the dense forest where the plane had crashed, making it difficult to locate from the air. The plane was heavily damaged and turned upside down, but fortunately, the victims were not seriously injured and were being taken care of by emergency workers.

HGSS teams from Samobor, Zagreb, and Karlovac worked together with emergency medical aid workers to triage the injured, provide first aid, and prepare them for transport. Four injured individuals and one fatality were found at the location. All victims were transported to medical institutions with the help of HMS helicopters and MUP helicopters.

The coordinated efforts of all services involved in the operation ensured that the victims received timely assistance and were swiftly transported to medical facilities. HGSS extended their condolences to the family of the deceased and emphasized the importance of preparedness and coordination in crisis situations. Regular drills and training exercises help emergency services like HGSS be ready for such interventions. By working together efficiently, they can effectively respond to emergencies and save lives.
