Cooper University Health Care Completes Merger with Cape Regional Health System: Expanding Health Care Services in South Jersey

Official Acquisition of Cape Regional Health System by Cooper Health

The long-awaited merger between two South Jersey health care systems, Cape Regional Health System and Camden-based Cooper University Health Care, has finally been completed. This new chapter in health care for the region began on Monday with Cape Regional Medical Center in Cape May Court House being rebranded as Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional.

Former chairman of the Cape Regional Board of Trustees, Garry Gilbert, expressed his excitement about this milestone and the potential for the combined systems to expand their reach and effectively serve more people. Christine Winn, senior vice president and chief regional officer at Cooper, will now be responsible for overseeing the health system’s operations in Cape May and Atlantic counties.

In a press release, Winn mentioned that the entire Cooper team is excited to work with their new colleagues in Cape May County to improve access to high-quality care and enhance the overall health care experience for residents of the region. The merger includes not only the flagship hospital but also Cooper’s acquisition of three urgent care centers, various outpatient primary and specialty care offices, and other health services in the area.
