Controversial Views: German Interior Ministers Criticize Citizen’s Allowance for Ukrainian Refugees”.

Criticism of the allowance payments granted to Ukrainian refugees.

Bavaria’s Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU) has voiced his criticism of the decision to provide citizen’s allowance to Ukrainian refugees. He believes that supporting Ukraine and supporting those who are deserting their country are contradictory actions. Herrmann argues that paying citizens’ allowance to refugees from Ukraine is a mistake as it hinders their employment opportunities and serves as a deterrent for them to seek work.

Brandenburg’s Interior Minister Michael Stübgen (CDU) has also expressed similar concerns about the payment of citizens’ allowance to Ukrainian refugees. He believes that changes need to be made to ensure that refugees have the opportunity to find work and contribute to society. Stübgen, who is also the chairman of the Conference of Interior Ministers (IMK), plans to discuss this issue at the upcoming IMK meeting in Potsdam, where he hopes to address the challenges faced by Ukrainian refugees and explore alternative solutions to support them without hindering their ability to find employment.
