Congressman Mike Simpson Leads Passage of Fiscal Year 2025 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill

U.S. Congressman Mike Simpson Votes to Fully Fund Veterans Health Care and Benefits

The House Committee on Appropriations has recently passed the Fiscal Year 2025 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill. Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson, Chairman of the House Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee, was instrumental in its advancement.

The bill fully funds veterans’ health care programs and benefits, supports military families, and strengthens America’s defense. Rep. Simpson expressed his support for the legislation, stating that it upholds the nation’s commitment to care for and support those who have defended our freedoms.

Since his time in Congress, supporting veterans and advocating for the men and women in uniform has been a top priority for Rep. Simpson. He is proud to continue these efforts by supporting this bill, which has now advanced from committee consideration to the full floor of the House of Representatives for further debate and a final vote.

The measure includes several important provisions that highlight its impact on veterans’ lives. It fully funds veterans’ health care programs, benefits, and VA programs. Additionally, it protects the 2nd Amendment rights of veterans by preventing the VA from sending information to the FBI without a judge’s consent.

This funding package will now undergo further scrutiny by the full House before being sent on to the Senate for consideration later this year. Once both chambers have passed their versions of the bill, it will go to President Biden to be signed into law or vetoed by Congress if necessary.
