Breaking News: Linn County Public Health Promotes Healthy Living Together

Linn County Public Health and Together! Healthy Linn are hosting two town hall meetings to gather insights from community members on the current state of health in the area. These events are part of the triennial Community Health Assessment process, which aims to shape the health priorities outlined in the 2025-2027 Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).

The first town hall meeting will take place on Thursday, July 11 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Community Room in Lester Buresh Community Wellness Center, located at 855 Palisades Rd. SW Mount Vernon, IA 52314. The second meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 17 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Fairfax City Hall, situated at 300 80th St. Court Fairfax, IA, 52228.

In addition to these town hall meetings, community members can also participate in two surveys. The food security survey seeks input on the current status of food security in Linn County and aims to identify areas for improvement in accessing food resources. The community violence survey is designed to gather residents’ thoughts on safety and security in the community, which will assist in developing strategies for violence prevention. Both surveys will be open until July 31, 2024.
