Community Health Fair Empowers Uninsured Families with Essential Healthcare Services

Over 100 People Expected to Attend Church Row’s Weekend Health Fair

On Saturday, June 1, a community health fair was held in Kansas City’s Church Row. The event attracted over 100 attendees and was hosted by seven churches in the area. These churches provided essential healthcare services such as diabetes screenings, cholesterol tests, and blood pressure checks for free to attendees. In addition to these services, attendees were also treated to a free hot lunch while professionals and volunteers from Optum Health Care Network and other providers offered free screenings to those in need.

The organizers of the health fair emphasized the importance of preventative care and early screening, noting that these services are often inaccessible to underinsured or uninsured individuals and families. They aimed to break down barriers and make these crucial medical services more available to the community by hosting the event at St. Peter CME Church in Kansas City, Kansas. Attendees were able to receive much-needed healthcare services in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Following the health fair, attendees were invited to attend the Kansas City Annual Local picnic hosted by the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Benefit Services. This event provided a day of fun and community building for all who attended, making it a success overall. Copyright 2024 KCTV. All rights reserved.
