Commanders Prepare for Mandatory Minicamp with Promising New Signing Mike Sainristil

Commanders’ second-round draft pick Mike Sainristil agrees to terms on rookie contract

The Washington Commanders are preparing for their mandatory minicamp that begins on Tuesday. One of their recent moves was officially signing Mike Sainristil, a second-round pick. Sainristil, who is 23 years old, had a successful college career at Michigan where he played both wide receiver and cornerback. In his senior season, he earned first-team All-Big Ten and first-team All-American honors, contributing to Michigan’s undefeated national championship season.

Sainristil is expected to step into the starting slot cornerback position for Washington right away. Nick Saban, the former head coach of Alabama, praised Sainristil as the top pound-for-pound player in the 2024 NFL draft. The Commanders have already signed some of their rookie class last month and are working to finalize the signings of the remaining players before the start of training camp next month.
