Combat drug abuse with science, compassion, and community action on World Drug Day

The issue of drug abuse continues to pose a significant threat to global health and well-being, impacting millions of people worldwide. To raise awareness about the devastating consequences of drug use, the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking will be observed on June 26th. The theme for 2024 is “The evidence is clear: invest in prevention.” The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime calls for raising awareness, advocating for increased investment in prevention efforts, empowering communities to implement evidence-based initiatives, promoting dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders, advocating for evidence-based policymaking, engaging communities in prevention programs, empowering youth to advocate for prevention initiatives, and promoting international cooperation to combat drug trafficking and organized crime.
