Colts Sign Unproven but Talented Wide Receiver Adonai Mitchell, Shrugs Off Criticism

Colts ink Adonai Mitchell, lock in entire draft class

Colts Sign Second-Round Wide Receiver Adonai Mitchell

On Thursday, the Indianapolis Colts completed signing all of their draft picks, including wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. The 52nd overall pick was the final member of the draft class to sign a four-year rookie deal with the AFC South club. During his time at Texas, Mitchell had an impressive record, catching 93 passes for 1,405 yards and 18 touchdowns in 35 games. Despite being projected to go higher in the draft than he did, Mitchell faced criticism about his attitude. Chris Ballard, general manager of the Colts, dismissed this criticism as “bullshit.”

Mitchell expressed feeling disappointed about being drafted lower than expected and used the number 10 as inspiration. As a reminder that 10 receivers were selected ahead of him this year, he saw it as motivation towards success in the professional league. If this motivation drives him towards success, Ballard may end up changing his opinion about Mitchell’s draft position and attitude.
