Colorado Springs Rises to Third Best City to Live in the U.S., Excels in Desirability and Job Market

Exploring the Reasons for Colorado Springs’ High Ranking as the #3 “Best Place to Live” by U.S. News & World Report

In the latest ranking released by U.S. News and World Report, Colorado Springs has been named the third best city to live in the United States. The ranking is based on four key indexes: Quality of Life, Value Index, Desirability Index, and Job Market Index. Each index is calculated using various sets of data, both internal and external in nature.

One area in which Colorado Springs excels is desirability. In a survey of 3,500 individuals, the city ranked as the most desirable place to live in the entire nation. According to Erika Giovanetti from U.S. News and World Report, Colorado Springs seems to have a strong draw on people from all walks of life due to its beautiful scenery and high quality of life.

The city also performs well in terms of the Job Market and Quality of Life Indexes. The Job Market Index looks at factors such as unemployment rate and average salaries, while the Quality of Life Index considers factors such as crime rates, education quality, FEMA Risk Index, and Air Quality Index.

However, one area where Colorado Springs did not perform as well was the Value Index. This indicator takes into account housing affordability and price parity compared to other cities. Johnna Reeder Klaeymeyer, CEO and President of Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce acknowledged that there is a need for more affordable housing in the city along with improving access to childcare and education services for families looking to make Colorado Springs their home
