The Copa América Group D is now underway with the completion of the first round on Monday night. In the opening matches, Colombia and Paraguay faced off against each other while Brazil was set to play Costa Rica.
Colombia emerged victorious in their match against Paraguay with a final score of 2-1. The goals for Colombia were scored by Muñoz in the 32nd minute and Lerma in the 42nd minute. Despite Paraguay’s efforts to equalize, they were unable to do so as Colombia held on to all three points in the group stage.
Néstor Lorenzo’s team dominated the early stages of the match, putting immense pressure on Paraguay’s defense from the start. Their efforts were rewarded with Muñoz’s goal, followed by another from Lerma before halftime. Although Colombia seemed to be cruising to victory, Paraguay managed to score a goal through Enciso, causing some anxiety for the Colombian team. However, a late penalty shout from Colombia was dismissed after a VAR check, but Paraguay was unable to capitalize on their chance to equalize.
