Coco Gauff Leads US Tennis Team for Paris Olympics: 2022 French Open Runner-Up Set to Compete Again in Women’s Singles and Doubles

Coco Gauff, US Open champion, leads the US tennis team to Paris Olympics

The US Tennis Association has announced its team for the Paris Olympics, with Coco Gauff leading the women’s singles squad. Gauff, who was a runner-up in the 2022 French Open and recently reached the semi-finals of the same tournament, will be joined by Jessica Pegula, Danielle Collins, and Emma Navarro.

In the men’s singles, Taylor Fritz will headline the team alongside Tommy Paul, Christopher Eubanks, and Marcos Giron. Fritz is currently ranked World No. 12 and has had a standout year so far, reaching the semi-finals of Wimbledon and winning his first ATP title at Lyon.

The Olympic tennis competition begins on July 27 at Roland Garros, where Gauff will be competing once again after missing out on the Tokyo Olympics three years ago due to a positive Covid-19 test. She will also be partnering with Pegula in women’s doubles after winning the French Open doubles title earlier this year.

The US team will be coached by Kathy Rinaldi for the women and Bob Bryan, a 2012 Olympic doubles gold medallist, for the men. The mixed doubles team will be selected from qualified players at a later date.
