Coca-Cola Recalls Banned Chemical from Its Popular Beverage in France: What You Need to Know

Coca-Cola is recalling a batch of its cherry-flavored drink “Cherry” due to an issue with the composition of the resin can. The interior lining of the can contains Bisphenol A, a chemical that has been banned in France since 2012 for use in packaging products that come into contact with food. This batch was imported by distributor B&M and carries the barcode 5449000195364, belonging to lot No. 08/02/2025 L09B.

These 33 cans were sold throughout France without any specific dates for marketing or withdrawal from sale. Consumers who purchased the affected batch are advised not to consume the drink and to return it to the point of sale for a refund. The recall process can be completed until August 27 through Rappel Conso.

This is not the first time that Coca-Cola has faced issues with its products in France. In November, the Croatian General Inspectorate ordered a recall of Coca-Cola products in Croatia due to cases of poisoning reported in several cities. This action was taken to protect public health and temporarily banned the distribution of the products in question.
