CLG’s ISOTERRA Technology Set to Revolutionize Sustainable Aviation Fuel Production in China

Chevron Lummus Global’s ISOTERRA technology chosen for sustainable aviation fuel project in China

Chevron Lummus Global LLC (CLG) has announced that its ISOTERRA technology has been chosen for a significant sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) project in China. The project will mark a milestone in advancing sustainability goals in the region, with CLG providing the technology license, engineering services, and supplying proprietary equipment and catalysts for the facility.

Rajesh Samarth, CEO of Chevron Lummus Global, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to China’s sustainability efforts through the application of the ISOTERRA technology. With over a decade of experience in lipids hydrotreating and isomerisation catalysts, CLG is confident in the capability of the ISOTERRA technology to deliver outstanding results for the project and the surrounding area.

The new renewable fuels plant is expected to have a capacity of 400 KTA, processing a variety of lipid feedstocks such as plant-derived oils, animal fats, and used cooking oils to maximize the production of SAF. Additionally, the plant will have the flexibility to produce renewable diesel, enhancing operational versatility.

By investing in this project, the operator will become a significant producer of sustainable aviation fuel in the region, aligning with China’s goals of reducing carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. To optimize SAF production and address the complexities of renewable feedstocks,
