Cigarettes, Soil, and Lack of Plumbing: Allegheny County Shuts Down ‘Cravingz’

Store in Stowe Township Closed for Operating without Permit and Failing Health Standards

The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the closure of “Cravingz” on Broadway Avenue in Stowe Township after numerous violations were found during a recent inspection. The establishment was operating without a permit and had several health and safety issues.

Inspectors discovered that employees preparing food had been smoking, which is a major health concern. Additionally, the food preparation equipment was heavily soiled, which can lead to contamination of food and illnesses. Cigarette butts were also found in the handwashing station, which can spread bacteria and other harmful substances.

The dumpster at the establishment was overflowing with garbage, which can attract rodents and other pests that can carry diseases. Moreover, the building lacked hot water and had only one restroom for both staff and customers, which is not up to code.

The closure of Cravingz serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining proper health and safety standards in food establishments. The Allegheny County Health Department will remain vigilant in monitoring these standards to ensure that all businesses operate safely and responsibly.
