The 19th edition of the China Young Female Scientist Award ceremony took place last month, celebrating the accomplishments of 20 exceptional women and five outstanding teams led by female scientists. This year’s event saw a record high of 825 individual candidates and 141 team candidates, showcasing the growing number of women in science across China.
Members of the scientific community gathered to honor these women for their contributions to various fields such as mathematics, mechanics, physics, chemistry, and biology among others. The recipients of the award delivered eloquent acceptance speeches, highlighting the importance of women in the field of science and technology.
Wang Xiaoyun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, emphasized the significance of these women as outstanding examples of researchers in the new era. For the past 20 years, the award has recognized and celebrated the achievements of women in science, highlighting their diverse research areas and contributions to the field. A recent report released by the National Science Library of the Chinese Academy of Sciences indicates a growing number of women working in science in China.
